Kidco was a diecast toy brand launched in 1977 by Universal Toys in Bensenville, Illinois, with production based in Hong Kong and Macau. Known for its “Tough Wheels” line, Kidco offered a wide range of 1:64 scale vehicles, including American muscle cars, European models, construction equipment, and pop culture tie-ins like Knight Rider and MASH*. Some models featured action gimmicks like key-activated “Burnin’ Key Cars” and “Bumper Blasters” that exploded on impact. Though short-lived -fading out by the mid-1980s- Kidco’s quirky charm and detailed castings have earned it a nostalgic following among collectors today.
