Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), now known as KNDS Deutschland, is a leading German defense manufacturer specializing in military land systems. Headquartered in Munich, it was formed in 1999 through the merger of Krauss-Maffei’s defense division and Wegmann & Co. KMW is best known for producing the Leopard 2 main battle tank, the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer, and a range of armored vehicles like the Dingo and Boxer.
In 2015, KMW merged with France’s Nexter Systems to form KNDS (KMW+Nexter Defense Systems), creating a major European defense group. KNDS now employs over 10.000 people and offers a wide portfolio including tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, and training systems.
